Earlier in the evening, Harmanpreet had received the World Cup trophy from ICC chairman Jay Shah.
The brief but emotional exchange between the two became one of the defining moments of the final. As she stepped forward to accept the trophy, Harmanpreet instinctively began to bow in respect, but her gesture was gently stopped with a nod.
On the field, India’s triumph was built collectively on a display of excellence. Shafali Verma’s 87 and Deepti Sharma’s all-round brilliance - her 55 runs and a five-wicket haul, powered the team to 298/7.
South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt fought back with a composed 101, but India’s bowlers maintained their grip to secure the nation’s maiden women's world title.
