Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday evening that King Charles has begun the formal process of stripping Prince Andrew of his final official titles and styles. As a result of the latest move, he will be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The latest announcement was confirmed in a statement which read: "These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse."
As Andrew loses his final titles and honours, when was a member of the British Royal Family last stripped of their official honours?

Removing royal titles is a complicated process and was last done by King George V during World War One when he revoked titles of his relatives who were on the German side.
The Titles Deprivation Act 1917 was used two years later to strip the titles from Leopold Charles, Duke of Albany, Earl of Clarence and Baron Arklow; Ernest Augustus, Duke of Cumberland and Teviotdale, Earl of Armagh; Ernest Augustus, Duke of Brunswick, Prince of Great Britain and Ireland; and Henry, Viscount Taaffe of Corren and Baron of Ballymote.
At the same time, a Letters Patent from the same year changed the Royal Family's last name from the Germanic Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to the more Anglican Windsor.
Several other royals also changed their names to follow suit. For example, Prince Louis of Battenberg became Lord Louis Mountbatten - the uncle of Prince Philip and mentor to King Charles.
The news from Buckingham Palace follows the release of a record low YouGov poll which shows that the disgraced royal's popularity has reached an all-time low.
The results show that 91% of Britons now hold a negative opinion of the former Duke of York, up from 87% in August, which is the highest result recorded by YouGov.
The number who see the 65-year-old very negatively has sharply increased from 69% in August to 81% now.
