Emmerdale viewers were left on the edge of their seats as Marlon Dingle (played by Mark Charnock) was seemingly shot dead in a shocking twist.
The dramatic scenes unfolded after April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), Marlon's daughter, considered revealing her recent troubles to him.
As fans will know, April has been reluctantly involved in drug dealing for Ray Walters (Joe Absolom) to help pay off her boyfriend Dylan Penders' (Fred Kettle) debt.
The plot thickened when it was revealed that local farmer Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths), who is also Ray's mother, was the brains behind the drug gang and had forced a terrified April into sex work.
In a tragic turn of events, April accidentally killed a man named Callum, who had paid Ray and Celia for a night with her.
Haunted by Callum's death, a distressed April decided to confide in Marlon about her ordeal. In an emotional exchange, Marlon offered his full support and insisted they report Ray and Celia to the police.
However, just as they were discussing their next steps, villainous Ray burst in and appeared to shoot Marlon dead, reports the Daily Star.
But, in a surprising twist, it was revealed that Marlon's death was merely a figment of April's imagination as she pondered over whether to expose Ray and Celia. Thankfully, Marlon is still very much alive.
Emmerdale viewers were left on the edge of their seats by the thrilling episode, imploring April to seek assistance from Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), who they believe could protect her and bring down Ray and Celia.
One Emmerdale fan took to social media to insist: "The police, no Marlon, get Cain instead. #Emmerdale."
Another chimed in: "When April spoke to Kyle I thought she'd go to Cain for help #Emmerdale."
A third suggested: "So grab Dylan, his phone, and April and go to the police and/or, tell Cain #Emmerdale."
"Come on Marlon! Dingle up - get Charity, Chas and Cain! #emmerdale", one viewer exclaimed, while another echoed: "Call Cain, Marlo. You know this has to be so. #Emmerdale."
Yet another pleaded: "Please please please can we get Cain in on this storyline? I love Cain when he's wicked #Emmerdale."
Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX
