Bhubaneswar: the minor girl sexual assault case in Bhubaneswar,
A three-member team from the State Commission for Women (SCW) visited Laxmisagar police station on Sunday in connection with the minor girl assault case in Bhubaneswar.
The SCW team — comprising Urmila Mohapatra, Pratibha Satapathy and Sasmita Das — also visited the 16-year-old Jharkhand girl who is under treatment at the Capital Hospital.
The minor was rescued in a critical condition with multiple injuries after she was allegedly raped. She was admitted to Capital Hospital after being found writhing in pain on the roadside in the capital city’s Ashok Nagar area, late on Thursday night.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the girl is from Jharkhand.
According to one of the SCW team members, the victim may be holding back some information.
The SCW team said it would submit a detailed report to the chairperson after assessing the site where a suspected sex racket involving the victim was reportedly operating.
The Capital Police have registered an FIR under the relevant sexual assault sections of the BNS, and an investigation is currently underway.
The Commissionerate Police have arrested four individuals in the case.
