The grand festival of Diwali is underway. According to Indian Hindu tradition, the festival is celebrated on the second day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) of the month of Kartika, symbolizing the unbreakable love and protection between brothers and sisters. According to religious texts, on the second day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) of the month of Kartika, Yamuna once invited Yama to her home for a meal. After Yama's meal, Yamuna offered him a sacred thread, and Yamuna blessed him with freedom from sins. It is said that this tradition has been going on since then.

It is believed that people consider it auspicious to eat lovingly at their sister's home on this day. Doing so also brings well-being and prosperity. According to the Hindu calendar, Bhaiya Dooj will be celebrated on October 23rd, with the auspicious time for applying Tilak (tilak) from 1:13 pm to 3:28 pm.

On this day, if brothers visit their sisters' homes and eat, it is considered highly auspicious. In return, brothers should also present gifts to their sisters. Religious texts also state that giving gold and silver jewelry to their sisters on the second day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase) of the Kartik month is considered highly auspicious.

What the Padma Purana says:
According to the Padma Purana, anyone who gifts clothes and jewelry to their married sisters is protected from conflicts throughout the year. They are also free from the fear of enemies. They attain wealth and fame. Eating food at their sister's home on Bhai Dooj and offering gifts in return is believed to protect them from premature death.
