The Premier League action continues at Craven Cottage on Saturday as Fulham welcome Arsenal for a London derby that has historically favored the visitors.
Fulham come into this fixture hampered by injuries and struggling for form. Marco Silva’s men have lost three of their last four matches and rank in the bottom third of the league for both expected goals and big chances created. Their attacking options are depleted: Sasa Lukic is sidelined for at least a month with an adductor injury, Rodrigo Muniz remains out with a hamstring problem, and Kenny Tete is unlikely to be fully fit. Raul Jimenez is also a doubt due to a hip issue. With no natural striker available, Fulham’s attack has lacked sharpness, averaging just 0.94 expected goals per game.
Arsenal, on the other hand, continue to display impressive consistency. Defensively, they have been solid, conceding only three goals in that stretch and keeping two clean sheets away from home. While Mikel Arteta will be without captain Martin Odegaard due to a knee injury, Arsenal’s structure and control have remained strong.
Recent history is also on Arsenal’s side, with the Gunners winning 12 of their last 18 meetings with Fulham, often finding a way through regardless of form. Six of the last seven encounters have seen both teams score, and Fulham have shown enough at home to suggest they can be competitive.
Given Arsenal’s discipline, Fulham’s injury woes, and the typically close nature of London derbies, this looks set to be a tight contest that should ultimately tilt in favour of the visitors’ superior quality.
